I'm baaack!!! Not really, but I just had to post because I was so inspired by the Spring 2012 ready to wear shows. Pretty pretty pretty!! So here are a few of my favorites and possible "realway" solutions for you to mimic the look without breaking the bank. I'm an admitted skirtaholic, so most of these looks are girly skirts. Love!!

One of my favorite shows was Prada. I love the baby blue and red combinations! The runway look is beautiful and I found a skirt at Asos (comes in baby blue or red) and a cute top at J Crew.

Pretty Prada color combo

Asos Linen blue ($50)

JCrew eyelet top ($98)
The Jason Wu look with the pink skirt is so pretty. I found a skirt very similar to this one at Belk by Ivanka Trump. The black and white top can be found many places, and the one I chose is from Piperlime.

I absolutely love Carolina Herrera. She is so elegant and such a lady. This yellow and black look is elegant with a slight edge, and I found a dress at Anthropologie that incorporates the same colors with great style. The dress is really comfortable too.

There you go. Realway ready!! I threw in a few other runway looks as additional inspiration. Want to see more from the runways? Check style.com for all designer shows.

Spring shopping deals!

With the weather constantly vacillating between summer and spring, deciding what to wear these days is a bit confusing! The best way to ensure you won't freeze or sweat if the temperature changes while you're out? Layers!! And luckily, there are some great deals to be had on staples that will have you ready for any weather situation.

Here are just a few. The Tinley Road woven cargo top is so comfortable and cool, but layered with a pretty pink cardigan, will keep you warm when the wind starts to blow. The cardigan will also look great layered over a comfy T from Banana Republic (they have high quality T shirts that will last years). And right now they are on sale!

Pair these looks with capri jeans or bermudas, like these from the Gap. They roll up at the leg, which gives a casual look. Layer away!

Dresses, Part 2

More dresses!! I just couldn't help myself. There are some great dress looks out there, and with weddings, luncheons, baby showers, and cocktail parties filling your social calendar this summer (right?!), you need a few go to pieces. Not a dress person? Use these looks for inspiration: wear the color of the dress on top with the accessories and throw on some capris or shorts!

Anthropologie has easy to wear dresses that work on many different figures. Saving for that summer vacation in Cabo? Try Forever 21 or TJ Maxx for budget friendly options. Banana Republic will have a number of pretty floral dresses on their racks soon. Now go get dressed!!

Spring is here!?

Ok, so the weather has been a little fickle lately, but spring is definitely in the air and that means one thing to me....dresses!!! I love the ease of putting on one item of clothing and feeling fancy. Dresses are the perfect outfit for every day, or those special days. Here are a few from the spring runway shows that might inspire you for the real way. And a few from stores you know. Happy shopping!

Prepare for cooler weather!

I've been hibernating for a while, but with Fall approaching, I have to get back in the saddle and talk fashion. The time is coming near for layered styles, rich fabrics, and boots!

This summer has been SO hot, it feels like we may never get out of the 90s. But I am remaining positive that Fall will be here sooner than later and we can start preparing now!

Many of the runway fashions for Fall seem to reflect those of recent years past. Camel colors, chunky sweaters, ladylike hemlines, and heavy-heeled shoes are returning. This makes me very happy because these are some of my favorite things! Not to mention that I'm quite over the teeny tiny hemlines of summer. Once you hit 35, the mini just won't do!

But I digress. To get your Fall wardrobe started, consider starting with a few staples. The Gap has a great line of pants that will fit all shapes and sizes. Piperlime has a great selection of military-styled jackets which will complete your look whether it be dressy or casual. Banana Republic has 30% off denim and sweaters so you can get a jump start while saving money!

I would write more, but Project Runway is on and I'm really distracted. Take a look to the left for some of these specific looks and Fall into it!! hehe....

Ready for spring already!!

Wow, I'm such a slacker. My first entry for 2010 and it is already February. Seeing that I could barely get anything on the page until now, I've decided to make this an easy one and share with you one of my favorite designers of the moment.

Rebecca Taylor has modern and girly pieces that when layered together, create feminine outfits with an edge. I think anyone can wear most of these items--the flowing shapes will flatter many body types. If you're not a girly girl, throw on a leather jacket or blazer with any of these and you still have that delicate look with a more crisp finish.

Her clothes retail at a higher price point then some would prefer, but I guarantee that if you find an item you like, you'll wear it enough times to more than justify the price. Just remember the Cost Per Wear rule when you need a reason to purchase. Here is one explanation of this rule (take it or leave it). :)

For example, if you spend $500 on a great winter coat, wear it for about 100-150 per year over the next five years, it’ll cost you about $.67 to a $1.00 every time you wear the coat. The more you wear the coat, the lower the cost per wear. On the other hand, the trendy top you bought for $20 at your local Old Navy, that you wear only three times before throwing it out, costs you around $6.50 everytime you wear it, making it almost SIX times as expensive as the coat.
